CREATING BESPOKE ENGAGEMENT STRATEGIES FOR MARKETS

Stakeholder engagement

WHAT?

Our client Market Curators required support in engaging with local communities around the future of markets for their clients. This engagement would allow them to draw on insights gathered from the communities and stakeholders who were a directly impacted, allowing for insight-informed recommendations to be made.

Yasper’s expertise and knowledge of the engagement landscape allowed us to deliver robust communications strategies for a number of markets, who were considering ways to improve their spaces and bring their assets back to life.

We worked alongside developers, landowners and councils to design and execute engagement exercises, providing the insight that would allow for regeneration and improved performance.

Yasper approaches every engagement exercise with an open mind. Whereas in some cases, extensive consultation is needed, in others, a lighter snapshot view will provide the information required.

In Kingston Upon Thames, we spoke with traders, nearby businesses and representative organisations, as well as gathering the views of members of the public over a six-week engagement window. We set up in- person events, using digital technologies to get a deep understanding of sentiment.

At Nansledan in Cornwall, we created a branded Google Forms consultation questionnaire and social media assets to help promote uptake among existing residents over a two-week window.

In Walsall, we worked with the local authority to promote an online consultation exercise, which was covered by BBC Online, among others, which helped
generate interest from an engaged audience.

HOW?

RESULTS

168
responses in Kingston Upon Thames

251
responses in Nansledan

720
responses in Walsall

In Kingston, we collected 168 individual responses from residents, visitors, and organisations with an interest. We developed this into a robust report, which went on to help inform the future of the Ancient Marketplace.

For the Duchy of Cornwall, in Nansledan, the effective use of social media drove 251 responses over a compressed two-week timeframe, providing valuable insights about public requirements.

In Walsall, largely driven by our work to engage relevant audiences through media outreach, we achieved 720 responses to our survey, which helped make the case for change and investment.

We conform to all statutory requirements with our consultation exercises, but treat every engagement based on its own merits. Through this flexible approach, twinned with our extensive expertise and technological abilities, we ensure engagement reaches and exceeds required outcomes and stands up to scrutiny.
