In March, YEP (You and Everyone in Property) brought together its Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield chapters for a cross-regional ‘Think Tank’ session ahead of this year’s UKREiiF.
The session gathered professionals from across the built environment, from planning, surveying, architecture and construction to discuss how technology can be used to improve both sustainability and productivity across the sector.
In support of YEP’s upcoming panel discussion at UKREiiF, members the Yasper team attended the session to gather information for our latest insight report – ‘Technology in the built environment.’

This insight report captures those discussions in full, from the tools currently being used in the sector, whether its artificial intelligence or virtual reality, through to the barriers slowing down adoption.
Throughout the event, one consistent message came through: while the sector is eager to embrace innovation, the roll-out of technology must be underpinned by proper training, investment, and a people-first approach.
As the report highlights, tools like AI and virtual modelling can enhance collaboration and reduce inefficiencies, but they can’t replace human oversight or expertise. With clearer guidance, better-aligned resources, and a working culture that treats technology as an enabler, the industry can make lasting progress.
This topic will be further explored at UKREiiF on Tuesday 20th May at 12:30 during YEP’s panel event in the D&I and Social Value Pavillion. The panel will discuss the findings from the insight report in detail and will continue the conversation around how tech can support the future of the built environment sector. We’d love to see you there!
